INTRODUCTION

The legendary comic finally comes to the big screen!

A slight young man with a calm smile and a generous heart.  But when he is spurred to action, there is fire in his eyes.  Faster than lightning, stronger than a demon, in a flash he overpowers his opponents.  But no matter how evil the enemy is, he stands by his code of honor not to take their life.  The best-selling comic Rurouni Kenshin by Nobuhiro Watsuki is now a live-action film, with up-and-coming actor Takeru Satoh perfectly portraying the dual demonic and peaceful personalities of Kenshin.  Directed by Keishi Otomo, the film is packed with powerful action never before seen in a Japanese film.

STORY

In the last days of the Shoguns, a powerful and skilled swordsman struck fear into the hearts of soldiers.  Known as "Battosai the Killer," he vanished from sight when the last Shogun fell and Japan entered its modern age, leaving only his legend.  Now, ten years later, he has kept his vow to kill no more.  To prevent himself from doing so, he carries only a "back-blade," a sword sharpened only on the edge he holds toward himself.  Having changed his name to Kenshin Himura, he appears in Tokyo and encounters Kaoru, a young female kendo instructor, and comes to live at her dojo.  His dignity and bearing begin to attract companions Yahiko, a boy who aspires to be a swordsman, and Sanosuke, a tough street fighter.

Kenshin has no wish to fight, but he cannot leave people tormented by a gold-seeker who hires 250 outlaws as bodyguards.  Will Kenshin be able to keep his vow of peace while defending those who have become dear to him?
