A man robs his family money and runs away from a small village on the day of his first son's birth. Thirty years later, memory from decades back still haunts the villagers so when series of burglary occur in the village, they do not miss a chance to kick Shinichi, the criminal's son who leads a lazy reliant life, out of the community as its prime suspect.
In order to learn independence and prove his innocence, Shinichi takes shelter in a church remote from his homeland, but its minister welcomes another lost sheep - the man who has run away from Shinichi's life 30 years ago. Now, the father and son start their life together not knowing the tie they already have.

A young bioarchaeologist Yukisuke is attracted to a girl Koyomi, who runs a small stand of taiyaki pastry that he often buys. Koyomi is hospitalized, however, by a car accident on a rainy day after they go out together, and wakes up with short term memory loss, where she cannot remember anything beyond the present day. Yukisuke tries to live close to her as before but the lack of collective memory starts to stagger him.

But shortly thereafter, they find out that Shino is a fraud; Shino recognizes their skills and proposes a deal to earn big money in conspiracy by unveiling an underground crime of vice dealers' group selling off lots of fakes internationally. Teaming up with other talented buddies, Norio and Sasuke determine to drive the con-game and to get revenge on the villains who stained on their reputation in the past.

A dowdy antique dealer Norio finds a valuable tea cup of the most famous Japanese tea master Sen no Rikyu from the 16th century when searching inside a storehouse of a rich family. Norio deceives the homeowner Sasuke to get it for almost nothing, but it turns out that Sasuke is a mere house-sitter and the teacup is made by Sasuke himself.
When Norio learns that Sasuke used to be a hopeful potter derailed by an antique authenticator Norio himself has a painful history against, the two decide to make the gamble of a lifetime against the authenticator they both have a score to settle with. Involving their wives and children, this act of fraud goes quite unexpectedly.
